GirlchildCreativityProject End of Year 2011 Update

Dear Supporters , well wishers , the media , clusters and friends. The year 2011 was a successful and a very busy year , thus the year we managed to launch this noble project girlchildcreativity, www.girlchildcreativity. blogspot.com.We carried a series a programs and activities  in schools , public affairs centres  , children drop in centres , homes and cultural centres. We saw the launch of the project in june 2011  with the assistance of the US Public affairs Department , New ambassador hotel , girlchildnetwork , chidza cild care centre and other we ll wishers and girlchild activists. The New ambassador hotel hosted and sponsored the launch of this project , while the public affairs provided with communication , admin ,markeing  and small grants for growing the project. The Chiedza Child care  centre hosted the first  motivational workshop  that saw the attendance of 21 students of the age between 13-21 , we had good writing and motivational skills workshops wit

Our Girlchildcreativity end of year calendar of events/Press Release by Mbizo  Chirasha Our 2011 activities have proved to be worthsome  through the response we got from collegues , girls , schools  and other serious stakeholders  in the community  and develomental  , it is a fact that sponsorship is difficult to get , but with  the small grants we recieved from the United states public affairs we managed to host and organize  thought provoking and succesful events that included discussion forums ,.motivational worksahops , cluster launches and vistations. so far the girlchild creativity is working on an anthology writen by students in a masterclass workshop  , we organized  in the beginning of october based on the creative social social responsibilty  theme , Verses against Hunger with a case study of somalia.Bulawayo food for thought seminar was  successful and famous  , the gweru interventions brought lif to the city of progress , thanks to Bevan Hungwe and Noma Mabhena. Bulawayo Food for Thought seminar [Role of creativity in empowering and developing girls] by Mbizo Chirasha   Thursday the 13th of October was a hive of activity at the Bulawayo public library where the American corner is situated, the Girlchildcreativity project director gave a vibrating and thought provoking session to a crowd of participants that was well represented by educationists, academics, child development activists and the media. The discussions centered on how to foster creativity to the girl child, the importance of empowering the girl child through creativity, talent identification and other models of mental development, the role of parents and teachers in stimulating creativity in children. Some participants argued that sometimes their talents and creativity die a natural death in their growing stages , and it came to light that lack of creative dynamics like motivation, talent realization and inspiration in talent demise. Creativity motivational workshop/29 TH 0F September 2011 Organized by Girlchildcreativity project Thrust- creative social responsibility and community transformation through creativity/art. -the workshop participants will   be   work shopped on the   role of creativity and arts in empowering communities and also on how poetry and creativity can transform communities   from situations like hunger and poverty   . GIRLCHILD CREATIVITY PRESS RELEASE September /octoberActivities 2011 With a good background of successful activities GirlChild Creativity continues to shine with a good line-up consisting of myriad activities that continue to strengthen and motivate the creative spark in girls and young female artists in Zimbabwe. The month of August ended on a high note with the last weeks full of life and activity. We saw the launch of the Hatcliffe cluster at Premier College and the attendance could only be described as mesmerizing. The students were eager to be part of the proceedings and gave long scintillating performances of their poetry. It was a joy to listen to the vibrating voices of music rising from both male and female students of the college. The male students were there to support their counterparts, the girls, in their art. In attendance were Premier College staff, including the headmaster Mr. Jon Motsi and our cluster manager at Premier College Ms Rebecca Simawo.

The girlchildcreativity project is  a very young but vibrant project that have realized a bid and thunderous support from the press both print , ezines and electronic , the project have become a tslk of the city and the country. it also received vibrant support during its launch in June from the US embassy public affairs  thorough its head and staff  as well the New ambassador hotel through the GM, Garry Webbstock and the staff.
