Participants' Comments on the Motivational Seminar

The 17th of November was a day filled with creative and arts motivation at the bookcafe with a lot of activities lined up in celebration of art and creativity. We all gathered in the morning of this day waiting for the motivational speech by Seasone our guest a Zimbabwean born UK based Hip hop artist. She gave a lot of positive insight about how to balance arts with school, with work and with family chores. She illustrated on the issues of being committed, resilient and hardworking. The Artist/Motivator gave a long narrative of her life. She started her art and her singing during her school days at Queen Elizabeth high school in Harare. Her art is more based on childrights and she believes in meaning, purpose and a positive attitude. Participants at the seminar were quite touched this was realised during the brainstorming session and the comments they gave after the seminar. PROFILE: SEASONE. Who is a nurse, a wife, a music writer, a mother and a hip hop artist. She is born to Maxwell and Joyce Ndongwe, first of three children.In Harare, Zimbabwe. She is one of the first true Zimbabweans and not Rhodesian. She moved to the UK when she was 7 years old, and returned to Zimbabwe aged 14years. She went to Queen Elizabeth School and finished her A-levels there. It whilst she was there she met her now husband, Will M. Mandaza. Seasone is mother to three boys Naishe 9, Taro 7, and Tanaye 5. Her oldest son Tatenda passed away last year. At 18 years she returned to the UK to pursue a career in Nursing. She trained at City University in London. She has worked as a Nurse since 2002. PASSIONS: Seasone is passionate about music. She started rapping at age 12. She could often be found in her room listening to the likes of Patra, Lady Saw. End of year detailed update of GirlchildcreativityProjects 2012 Introduction - Girlchildcreativity project continue to unbelt small but massive life changing, confidence building and talent development activities in Zimbabwe. We have moved a great stride though funding remain a hindrance. The project have so far generated a lot of interest across lifestyles, cultures and backgrounds including students, academics, school teachers, cultural groups, young girls and young female artists. We have so far covered much ground in a number of projects that include Zim-Nigeria literary exchange, Girlchild Voices Fiesta, Female Poets for Environment, Urban colleges Writers Prize and the newly initiated Artist in Residence Program.
